Scott Hartnell goes after NY Rangers bench, salutes MSG crowd (VIDEO)

Micheal Haley was called up from the AHL Connecticut Whale when New York Rangers star Brad Richards was ruled out of Tuesday night’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers (after he was Kaleta’d). He played 4:12 against Philly with three hits and a blocked shot; it could be argued, then, that Haley’s most memorable moment came while his backside was on the bench.

Here’s Haley, goosing Scott Hartnell’s helmet and sparking a little chaos on the Rangers’ bench:

Late in the third period, Hartnell checked Rick Nash near the Rangers bench. His momentum carried him over the boards, and practically into Haley’s lap. The Rangers forward the grabbed the back of Hartnell’s helmet, and the Flyer responded with a shove.

The result: Hartnell was given a misconduct at 17:06 of the third. So was Stu Bickel, because the refs missed that it was Haley. Hartnell waved and gave the thumbs-up to the MSG as he left the ice, because he’s Scott Hartnell.
