Maxim Karpov scores goal of the year candidate, slices through defense in KHL (VIDEO)

Maxim Karpov, 21, is a forward for Traktor Chelyabinsk. He’s also evidently a human Ginzu knife, slicing through the Barys defense to score a ridiculous goal in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinal in the Kontinental Hockey League.

Two really impressive moments in that goal. The first, obviously, was Karpov’s leaping journey through the Barys defense to collect the puck. The second was when that puck nearly left his possession: How about that calm move to settle the disc down and then pop it over goalie Pavel Poluektov? Not too shabby.

It’s been quite the postseason for Karpov, actually. Please recall the Datsyukian Deke he had on a penalty shot earlier in the series (s/t Mind Puck):

Dangle-tastic. Traktor Chelyabinsk dropped the first two games at home to Barys, but rallied to win the series in seven games.
