Tuesday was "Ryan Suter Welcomes His Former Friends" night at Xcel Energy Center as the Minnesota Wild hosted the Nashville Predators.
With the game tied 1-1 and just over 11 minutes to play in the third period, Niklas Backstrom came out of his crease to play a loose puck, just beating Martin Erat to it. Unfortunately for Backstrom, he telegraphed where he was going with the puck allowing Erat to force the turnover and score:
How lonely did Backstrom feel as he dove to the ice in a failed effort to disrupt Erat's waltz to an empty net?
The goal would end up being the game winner for the Predators during their 3-1 victory. David Legwand would add a power play tally with 17 seconds to go to double their lead.
