No hearing for Dustin Penner for elbow on Dave Bolland (Video)

In the third period of Game 4 of the Western Conference Final, Dustin Penner of the Los Angeles Kings offered Dave Bolland a chicken wing.

There was no penalty on the play. There was no significant injury on the play. Bolland skated eight shifts in the third period, in the Chicago Blackhawks’ 3-2 win on Thursday night.

So, to that end, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports that there’s no hearing scheduled for Penner from the NHL’s Department of Player Safety.

Second City Hockey, Blackhawks blog, reacts:

There will be no hearing or action taken on Dustin Penner for his deliberate elbow to the head of Dave Bolland. Player safety my foot! I wonder what would have happened if Bolland would have acted like he'd been hit by the sniper who had been picking off Drew Doughty all night long?

What say you? Did Penner get away with some intent to injure, or was this a hit gone wrong that looked worse than it was?
