NHL on SI cover; Duncan Keith has hearing; scratch Letang? (Puck Headlines)

Here are your Puck Headlines: a glorious collection of news and views collected from the greatest blogosphere in sports and the few, the proud, the mainstream hockey media.

• The NHL and San Antonio Spurs all share regional Sports Illustrated covers this week. [SI]

• Duncan Keith's hearing with the NHL after his slash on Jeff Carter in Game 3 took place this afternoon. [ESPN]

• All hail, Slava Voynov. [LA Times]

• Lambert on why Kris Letang should be a healthy scratch for the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 3. [Backhand Shelf]

• The Game 7 comeback against the Maple Leafs was quite the wakeup call for the Boston Bruins. [CSNNE]

• Down Goes Brown on conference finals history: "1978 - The Canadiens easily sweep the Maple Leafs for the first of two consecutive years in a playoff matchup that's so dull and anti-climactic that everyone agrees they have no interest in ever seeing it again, a young Kerry Fraser assumes." [DGB]

• The other big news from the Dallas Stars' jersey unveiling is that they will be retiring Mike Modano's No. 9 on March 8, 2014 against the Minnesota Wild. [Stars]

• Why both the Stars and Hurricanes jerseys get a thumbs down: "The Carolina Hurricanes and the Dallas Stars underwent what should have been an extensive rebranding effort in their full jersey redesign. It seems like both forgot the part where they do something original, and of value to their team’s history, identity, and the league image of the NHL." [Puck Buddys]

• It doesn't appear the Washington Capitals have room for Mike Ribeiro. [CSN Washington]

• The Carolina Hurricanes face one heckuva scheduling situation, thanks to North Carolina State: "NCSU has scheduling priority at the arena, where both the Wolfpack and Hurricanes play home games. Gale Force Holdings, which owns the Hurricanes and operates the arena for concerts and other events, worked with the Atlantic Coast Conference in previous years to coordinate schedules. But NCSU Athletic Director Debbie Yow claimed so many dates for possible Wolfpack games this year that Gale Force says it doesn’t have enough dates for hockey games, let alone other events." [Triangle Business Journal via Sporting News]

• There seems to be a lot of former Flyers in these playoffs. At least someone is keeping track. [Broadstreet Hockey]

• Speaking of former Flyers, Antero Niittymaki is back! He's now the team's European goaltending scout. [Flyers]

• This little kid can reel off the Kings' roster after hearing just a player's number. [Mayor's Manor]

• Examining Eastern Conference contenders for compliance buyouts this summer. [NHL Numbers]

• Why the Hockey Hall of Fame class should grow from four players per year. [Sens Shot]

• Finally, the TSN crew is at it again, this time with a parody song about the over the glass penalty. You'll never seen more passionate cowbell playing than what Bob McKenzie brings:
