NHL Three Stars: Boyle leads Sharks over Canucks; Bruins, Pens romp

No. 1 Star: Dan Boyle, San Jose Sharks

Boyle scored the go-ahead goal into a gaping net in the third period, as the Sharks took Game 1 from the Vancouver Canucks, 3-1. He previously assisted on Logan Couture’s power-play goal to tie the game.

No. 2 Star: David Krejci, Boston Bruins

The Bruins center had a goal and two helpers in their 4-1 domination of the Toronto Maple Leafs, to take Game 1 of their quarterfinal series. His second-period goal, on an assist from Milan Lucic, gave Boston a two-goal advantage.

No. 3 Star: Pascal Dupuis, Pittsburgh Penguins

No Sidney Crosby, no problem: Dupuis tallied twice as the Pittsburgh Penguins routed the New York Islanders in Game 1, 5-0.

Honorable mention: Marc-Andre Fleury made 26 saves for the shutout, the sixth of his career. … Pens rookie Beau Bennett opened the scoring with a power-play goal. … James van Riemsdyk scored for the Leafs. … Wade Redden scored a huge game-tying goal for the Bruins. … Tuukka Rask made 19 saves. … Patrick Marleau had the other goal for the Sharks, while Kevin Bieksa tallied for Vancouver. … Roberto Luongo made 25 saves, while Antti Niemi made 29.

Did you know? The Bruins are 21-4-3 against the Maple Leafs in their last 28 meetings.

Dishonorable mention: Evgeni Nabokov was chased after giving up four goals on 18 shots. … Marty Reasoner was given a 5-minute major and a game misconduct for leading with the knee on a Jussi Jokinen hit. … Dan Hamhuis was a minus-2 for Vancouver. … Things got a little chippy at the end of the Bruins/Leafs game:
