Jersey Fouls Extra: Survey says, even ‘Family Feud’ isn’t Foul free

Jersey Fouls is our ongoing exploration of the rules and etiquette for proper hockey jersey creation and exhibition. If you spot what you think may be a foul in your arena, email a photo to us at puckdaddyblog@yahoo.com for inclusion in future installment.

Top five answers are on the board. We asked 100 people: “Name an affront to good taste and decorum you’d expect to see roaming the concourse in Washington or San Jose, but not on a nationally syndicated game show.”

Survey Says … Jersey Fouls! Our No. 1 answer! (No. 2: Al Iafrate.)

Courtesy of Friend of Puck Daddy B.S., a recent episode of the Steve Harvey-hosted “Family Feud” featured the Pawlak Family, which eschewed the usual matching sweaters or goofy shirts for New York Rangers replica jerseys – replacing the “RANGERS” across the front with their own family name.

Also, they hired a fat Rick Nash impersonator and gave him No. 33.

From B.S.:

I was watching Family Feud a couple weeks ago and this entire family repurposed the New York Rangers sweater to put their name on the front and on the back they had their first names. They had put a C and A on some of the jerseys.

The Pawlaks are from Tacoma, Wash., and their appearance on the ‘Feud’ warranted coverage in the News Tribune:

The Pawlak family includes Pat, an IT manager and youth sports coach; brother Adam, a law enforcement officer; brother Eric, a jailer; brother Nick, a student; and brother Scott, a law enforcement officer.

“We decided to try out ‘Family Feud’ because it sounded like a fun thing to do, and my brother’s birthday was close to the tryout date so it would be a fun way to celebrate that, said Patrick. “If we win we want to do something fun with the money and then pay some bills.”

Here they are in action:

On the one hand, it’s great to see hockey getting repped on perhaps our greatest long-running game show not named “Jeopardy!”

On the other … FOULS.

We don’t want to say the jerseys are hideous, but not even Richard Dawson would sloppily kiss these.
