Ducks’ Andrew Cogliano takes high stick from Blackhawks; bloody teeth don’t miss shift (Video)

Did you know Andrew Cogliano of the Anaheim Ducks has appeared in 439 consecutive games?

Maybe if Brandon Bollig knew that, he’d have been a tad more courteous with his lumber on Wednesday night, as the Chicago Blackhawks forward popped Cogliano in the mouth with his stick late in the third period of their Western Conference showdown. WARNING: There will be blood in this clip.

The Ducks went on to win, 4-2, but that could have been game/set/match right there had Bollig been caught – a double-minor penalty if there ever was one.

As the Ducks broadcasters asked: How do four officials all miss that one?

Here’s what Cogliano didn’t miss: a shift. Despite losing a few teeth thanks to the high stick, he returned to the ice for the last few minutes of the Ducks’ victory. Because hockey players, that’s why.

What a statement win for the Ducks last night.
