NHL Three Stars: Nick Bonino tallies first trick; Ray Emery leads Blackhawks

No. 1 Star: Nick Bonino, Anaheim Ducks

Bonino made the most of his 10:22 of ice time by scoring his first career hat trick, which powered the Ducks to a 7-4 wild win over the Los Angeles Kings. He added an assist for a four-point night and Jonas Hiller made 30 stops. Luca Sbisa, Bobby Ryan and Emerson Etem each chipped in two assists. The Ducks converted on three of their four power play chances.

No. 2 Star: Ray Emery, Chicago Blackhawks

In his first start since Jan. 20, Emery made 45 saves in regulation and overtime, then stopped all three Calgary Flames shootout attempts as the Blackhawks won 3-2. Marian Hossa forced overtime by scoring with 2.1 seconds left in regulation and Patrick Kane tallied the only goal in the shootout to improve Chicago's record to 7-0-2.

No. 3 Star: Artem Anisimov, Columbus Blue Jackets

Anisimov scored a pair of goals in the second period to pulled away from the Detroit Red Wings en route to a 4-2 victory. He now leads the Blue Jackets with four goals. Steve Mason made 32 stops, while Jack Jackson logged an astounding 34:59 of ice time.


Honorable Mention: Mike Smith earned his 20th career shutout with a 17-save night as the Phoenix Coyotes blanked the Dallas Stars 2-0. Nick Johnson and Mikkel Boedker scored the only goals of the game. In his return from suspension, Raffi Torres played 11:53 ... Chris Bourque scored his first NHL goal since Dec. 30, 2008 as the Boston Bruins shutout the Toronto Maple Leafs 1-0. Tuukka Rask made 21 saves for his 12th career shutout ... Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz each scored a goal and assisted on two others as the Pittsburgh Penguins earned their first win at CONSOL Energy Center this season with a 5-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils. Penguins rookie defenseman Robert Bortuzzo scored his first NHL goal ... P.A. Parenteau and Jamie McGinn scored 3:29 apart late in the second period to help pace the Colorado Avalanche to a 3-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers. Semyon Varlamov made 25 saves as the Avs won their third straight game at Pepsi Center. In the loss, Sam Gagner picked up an assist and has a point in each of Edmonton's eight games ... Both David Desharnais and Rene Bourque netted a pair of goals and Carey Price made 30 saves as the Montreal Canadiens routed the Buffalo Sabres 6-1. Lars Eller chipped in three points. P.K. Subban played 18:01 and assisted on Desharnais' second goal in his season debut ... Carl Hagelin's goal with 5:13 left in the third period would stand as the game winner as the New York Rangers edged the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2. Marty Biron made 30 saves in his first start of the season ... Mike Knuble scored his first goal during his latest tenure with the Philadelphia Flyers and Ilya Bryzgalov made 39 saves as they dispatched the Carolina Hurricanes 5-3. Danny Briere and Claude Giroux each had a goal and an assist. The Flyers cashed in on all three power play opportunities ... Pekka Rinne made 26 saves and Craig Smith scored the only shootout goal as the Nashville Predators slipped by the San Jose Sharks 2-1 to hand them their first loss of the year.

Did You Know? Jamie Tardif, who played 449 games in the ECHL and AHL since 2006-07, made his NHL debut for the Bruins at age 28. (AP)

Dishonorable Mention: Jonathan Quick was chased after allowing two goals on the first three shots he faced in the opening 5:49 ... The Sabres managed just one shot in the opening period ... Mikhail Grigorenko was 1-for-8 in faceoffs ... Wayne Simmonds did not play for the Flyers after suffering a concussion on Friday ... Dan Ellis was pulled after allowing four goals in 12 shots ... James Wisniewski and Cam Fowler each had to their leave respective games after separate injuries.
