Linus Omark's NHL shootout skills have been fully covered around these parts. He brought creativity to the game-deciding event making each of his attempts must-watch television. On Friday, one of his moves was once again was a YouTube sensation, except this time it was in the run of play and not the shootout.
Omark has pulled off the chip move before, during a shootout for Team Sweden in an exhibition game in 2009. This one was the final goal during a 6-1 Zug rout of Ambri-Piotta and a 4-point night for Omark. He leads all NLA scorers with 60 points.
The 25-year old Swede spent two seasons with the Edmonton Oilers organization, spending his time going back and forth between the NHL and Oklahoma City of the AHL. He didn't find himself up with the big club on a full-time basis so Omark signed a 1-year deal with EV Zug of the Switzerland in August. (The Oilers retain his rights because they tendered him a qualifying offer.)
Since Omark couldn't find a slot in the Oilers roster over the past two seasons, a fine year in Switzerland surely ups his trade value a bit if he wants another go at the NHL.
