Boston bedevilled; Sharks, Lightning look to continue scoring in bunches (Puck Previews)

Back by popular demand, here are your Puck Previews: Spotlighting the key games in NHL action, news and views as well as general frivolity. Make sure to stop back here for the nightly Three Stars when the games are finished.

Preview: New Jersey Devils at Boston Bruins, 7 p.m. ET. The Bruins and Devils have yet to come away from a game without at least a point this season. Who has the edge? I'll say Boston, who has won 8 of the last 9 matches versus New Jersey. Thing to watch: this is the last game of Stefan Matteau's free trial before the Bruins have to decide to unlock the shareware and keep him or uninstall him. Can he do enough tonight to justify sticking around?

Preview: Florida Panthers at Tampa Bay Lightning, 7:30 p.m. ET. I've chosen to feature these next three games because I think the hockey is going to be high-octane and we'll see a lot of goals in all three (although that prediction is probably a death knell for offence in each). The Lightning are scoring like crazy right now -- 4.8 goals per game -- and the Panthers aren't exactly the best shutdown team in the East. Thankfully, they'll get a boost keeping up on the scoresheet as Kris Versteeg finally returns to the lineup.

Preview: Winnipeg Jets at Montreal Canadiens, 7:30 p.m. ET. Here are a few reasons this one might be a high-scoring game. Ondrej Pavelec  is 0-3-0 with a 4.01 GAA in his last four starts in Montreal. Carey Price may not play. Both teams are scoring a lot of goals right now. The Jets aren't very good at defence. Just a hunch, but this might be a fun one.

Preview: Anaheim Ducks at San Jose Sharks, 10:30 p.m. ET. The Sharks are an absolute joy to watch these days -- I might even go so far as a must-watch. It's early, so they might just be on a hot streak (and Lord knows the regular season has never been their issue), but fabulous hockey is fabulous hockey. They're averaging 4.6 goals per game thus far this season, though Patrick Marleau is the one getting headlines, with 9 goals in 5 games. Thornton on Marleau: "You want to keep feeding him because he's so hot." #HockeyPorn

Puck Daddy Reader Comment of the Day: Mel, on West Fargo minor hockey having 200 guns to raffle off:

In other news, West Fargo Hockey Association is having trouble finding referees.

Bold Prediction: The Bruins and Devils both fend off their first 1 in the loss column with an overtime game.
