Vasily Mordvinov has spent his hockey career playing in the lower levels of Russia's hockey leagues. Maybe the 25-year old forward has had a lovely goal or two, but such a highlight-reel feat hasn't made any waves across the ponds of the world.
This week, Mordvinov scored his highlight-reel goal.
On Thursday, playing for Ermak Angarsk of Russian Major League, Mordvinov pulled off the lacrosse-style goal successfully:
That goal would end up being the game winner as Ermak downed Sputnik Nizhny Tagil 4-2 to move to fourth in the standings.
The one thing we continue to harp on when we feature one of these spectacular goals is the huge amount of balls courage to even attempt the move during the run of play; especially, at least in Mordvinov's case, in a close game. Had Mordvinov missed, would he had ridden the pine for a few shifts?
