Habs players could be paid during lockout; Dustin Brown on LA momentum (Puck Headlines)

Here are your Puck Headlines: a glorious collection of news and views collected from the greatest blogosphere in sports and the few, the proud, the mainstream hockey media.

• Via NY Rangers Blog, this is New York Rangers goalie/guitarist/heartthrob Henrik Lundqvist cleaning up after his dog at Riverside Park in Manhattan. It was then tweeted out by 100 NHLPA members, which is mandatory whenever they're given B.S. to dispense. [NYR Blog]

• Good stuff from Pierre LeBrun with Dustin Brown, on who the lockout could impact the Los Angeles Kings' surging popularity: "Growing the game here in L.A., we have 15,000 season-ticket [plans] now. ... With the lockout looming, I don't know how many of those season-ticket holders are going to be season-ticket holders if we start in November, December or later. ... We have all this momentum going; again it goes back to 45 years of frustration and now everyone is excited about hockey in Los Angeles. With the possibility of no hockey, we won't be able to capitalize on the momentum we've built up the last couple of years." [ESPN]

• Last night, news broke that the Montreal Canadiens might be in violation of the Quebec provincial labour board and that their players might legally not be allowed to be locked out next weekend. Today, defenseman Josh Gorges said that if the players win in this dispute, Canadiens players will be paid while the rest of the League is locked out. [@Wyshynski]

• A look at Steve Fehr, who appears to be good cop to Donald Fehr's maniac cop. [SBJ]

• Steve Ott's ready to roll for the Buffalo Sabres as soon as that pesky lockout gets settled. "The players are looking for a fair deal. We want to play, and we want to get going. I think every single guy is ready to go. It would be a complete shame if the doors are locked by ownership." [DFW]

• Speaking of pests, interesting piece on Brad Marchand of the Boston Bruins and his maturity: "As he matures more completely, Marchand may cut back on the penalties. Assuming this happens naturally, he can do so without losing his edge on the offensive end. We'll just have wait for the results. The only guarantee, at this point, is that we'll have the next five years to watch this process first hand." [Stanley Cup of Chowder]
