Convicted Vancouver Stanley Cup riot ‘poster boy’ offers apology to city (VIDEO)

This is Robert Snelgrove. Not the sharpest arrow in the quiver.

Last June, he was caught on video running out of a Sears department store during the post-Game 7 riots that marred the Stanley Cup Final between the host Vancouver Canucks and the Boston Bruins. While others were breaking windows and walking out with flat-screens, Snelgrove filled his arms with  … beauty supplies.

The video aired the next morning on Global News, and soon his idenity was revealed on social media. He turned himself into police, returned the stolen goods to Sears and offered an apology.

Last week, he was ordered by a B.C. Provincial Court to offer another formal apology to the city and its residents as part of the sentencing of the 25-year-old, who was placed under house arrest rather than becoming the third rioter sent to jail for their actions.

He refused to read it aloud to the media; that honor fell to his lawyer:

From the Province, on the sentencing:

Judge Greg Rideout said during his sentencing it was obvious Snelgrove had a problem with alcohol and ordered the Coquitlam man to abstain from alcohol and drugs, get counselling and stay out of Vancouver as part of his sentence.

Thee are still about 100 rioters, identified by police, that have yet to be sentenced.
