The 2012 Stanley Cup Final will be remembered for the Los Angeles Kings' first championship, but not exactly for titillating action on the ice. Luckily, adult video star Taylor Stevens was situated behind New Jersey Devils Coach Peter DeBoer to provide an ample distraction.
Stevens, a hockey fan and Toronto native, attended Games 4 and 6 at Staples Center, making international headlines with her appearances near the glass — wearing a tight white shirt in the Devils' Game 4 victory, and a black LA Kings shirt during their Cup win.
Both shirts were put up for auction on eBay for charity, and ended up raising $1,000 for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and The Obesity Society.
Stevens battled non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma last year, and has gone through radiation therapy.
The winner of the auction was a "B. Coyle", who said:
"I became a fan of Taylor and started following her shortly after her diagnosis. She is one of the most entertaining, inspiring, hardworking, genuine and down to earth people I have ever had the pleasure of speaking with, beautiful inside out. The opportunity for her to donate to charitable causes close to her heart doesn't surprise me, she loves to give to people."
Hey now. Congrats to Coyle and to Taylor Stevens, who used one of the strangest moments of instant celebrity in the NHL to help out two worthy causes.
