Monday’s Three Stars: Luongo blanks Kings; Captain Alfie leads Senators

No. 1 Star: Roberto Luongo, Vancouver Canucks

Luongo recorded his fourth shutout of the year and 59th of his career with a 38-save effort during a 1-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings. Manny Malhotra scored the game's only goal 3:05 into the first period as the Canucks won their third straight game. The win also put Vancouver over the 100-point mark or the fourth consecutive season and within two points of Western Conference-leading St. Louis.

No. 2 Star: Daniel Alfredsson, Ottawa Senators

The Captain's two goals in the third period helped boost the Senators over the Winnipeg Jets 6-4 and move them four points ahead of Washington and Buffalo in the East. Just 24 seconds after Evander Kane's 29th of the year tied the game at four, Alfredsson put one past Ondrej Pavelec to give Ottawa the lead for good. Craig Anderson stopped 44 shots and Erik Karlsson and Jason Spezza each added three helpers apiece. One of Spezza's assists was this beauty on a Kyle Turris goal:

No. 3 Star: Mike Cammalleri, Calgary Flames

Cammalleri stayed hot and helped lead the Flames to a 5-4 victory over the Dallas Stars and keep their playoff hopes alive. Scoring a goal and setting up two others, Cammalleri now has seven points during a five-game points streak. Miikka Kiprusoff made 35 saves to snap a personal four-game losing streak. Blake Comeau scored his first goal in over a month thanks to a beautiful set up by ... Mike Ribeiro?

Honorable mention: Steven Stamkos scored his 53rd of the season, a Tampa Bay franchise record, and Dwayne Roloson made 35 saves as the Lightning downed the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3. Martin St. Louis added a goal and an assist ... Tomas Holmstrom scored twice and Henrik Zetterberg and Todd Bertuzzi each recorded four assists as the Detroit Red Wings steamrolled the Columbus Blue Jackets 7-2 and clinched a playoff spot for the 21st consecutive season. Detroit scored four times in the opening period, including these two goals set up by beauty assists from Pavel Datsyuk...

(that goal was Gustav Nyquist's first in the NHL) ... and Henrik Zetterberg:

The San Jose Sharks moved atop the Pacific Division and into third place in the Western Conference with a 5-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche. Joe Pavelski scored twice and Antti Niemi made 31 saves for their third win in a row ... Milestones on the night: Brenden Morrow (800 games), Kimmo Timonen (400 assists), Pavelski (300 points), Dan Boyle (500 points).

Did you know? The Kings have lost nine times this season in games where Jonathan Quick has allowed just one goal.

Dishonorable mention: Steve Mason has allowed 17 goals in his last 188:15 ... Eric Nystrom suffered a deep cut in his leg and didn't return after the first period ... Making his 19th start in 20 games, Ilya Bryzgalov allowed four goals on just 14 Tampa shots ... Finally, Matt Carle will have nightmares about this giveaway behind his own net leading to a J.T. Wyman goal:
