Friday’s Three Stars: Nuge boosts Oilers; Byfuglien leads Jets past Capitals

No. 1 Star: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Edmonton Oilers

The Nuge continued his drive toward the Calder Trophy with a pair of goals in Edmonton 3-1 win to end the Calgary Flames' five-game winning streak. Jordan Eberle chipped in three points and Devan Dubnyk made 18 saves for his third win in four starts. With the pair of goals, Nugent-Hopkins moved to within a point of Gabriel Landeskog and Adam Henrique for the rookie scoring lead.

No. 2 Star: Patrick Sharp, Chicago Blackhawks

One of Chicago's "Most Beautiful" people helped get the Blackhawks off to a strong start against the Dallas Stars scoring one of two goals 1:41 into the game en route to a 4-1 win. Dave Bolland would open the scoring 10 seconds in, while Sharp would later net his second goal of the night early in the third period to bring his tally to 28 on the season. Viktor Stalberg assisted on both Sharp goals, while Corey Crawford made 21 saves.

No. 3 Star: Dustin Byfuglien, Winnipeg Jets

Byfuglien assisted on Winnipeg's opening goal and scored their final one as the Jets edged the Washington Capitals 3-2. The win puts the Jets to within two points of the Capitals for the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference. Ondrej Pavelec made 20 saves to improve to 3-1-1 against Washington this season.

Honorable mention: Filip Kuba was the hero of the night in Ottawa as his goal 3:07 into overtime gave the Senators a 2-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens:

With the win, Ottawa moved into first place in the Northeast Division ahead of the Boston Bruins ... Winnipeg fans gave their answer to the "Crosby or Ovechkin" question ... Los Angeles scored three times in the opening period and didn't look back during their 4-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks. Justin Williams scored a goal and added an assist and Jonathan Quick stopped 18 shots.
